Carrier Lecture Series Grows Green Building in Singapore and Thailand
SINGAPORE, May 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- As Southeast Asia's building industry strives to meet the needs of its growing urban population, building owners are turning to green building as a solution.
According to a study by McGraw-Hill Construction, green building activity is on the rise with 89 percent of Singapore building firms expecting more than 60 percent of their projects to be green by 2015. Carrier, the world's leader in high technology heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions, convened thought leaders at its popular Distinguished Sustainability Lecture Series to support building owners and designers in Singapore and Thailand who are transforming the built environment.

More than 150 building professionals attended Carrier's two Distinguished Sustainability Lecture Series events held in Singapore and Thailand on May 14 and 16. Launched in the Middle East in 2011, the Distinguished Sustainability Lecture Series is designed to convene international building industry experts to discuss the economic and health motivations for green building, as well as future sustainable building trends. To date, 13 lectures have convened in emerging markets across the world, reaching more than 1,500 building professionals.

During the event, Dr. Nils Kok , assistant professor in Finance and Real Estate at Maastricht University in the Netherlands and a visiting scholar at the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, shared the global perspective on energy efficiency, sustainability and the economics of green building. In addition, Huston Eubank , chief knowledge and innovation officer and consulting director, Regenerative Ventures, Inc. and associate of The Green Asia Group in Singapore, introduced recent research data on health and productivity in green buildings, specifically the substantial increases in productivity due to improved indoor environmental quality and best practices for achieving these results.
