LG's advanced ductless air conditioning systems are featured in both the GreenZone residential and classroom modular building prototypes situated at the entrance to the Moscone Center's North Hall during the two-day expo. In addition to advanced air conditioning from LG Electronics, the exhibit, commissioned by SGC Horizon, incorporates LG's highly efficient solar systems, home appliances and electronics.
A 2012 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year, LG continually seeks ways to educate builders, architects and consumers on the wealth of energy-saving options in the marketplace. "Our participation in the GreenZone exhibit and our partnership with USGBC to sponsor Greenbuild 2012 underscores our commitment to developing and manufacturing innovative products with an eye towards the environment," said Kevin McNamara, vice president, Commercial Air Conditioning, LG Electronics USA. "LG's HVAC units provide these exhibits a significant step toward net zero energy usethey're among the highest-efficiency products on the market."
GreenZone Home Features LG Art Cool Premier
Method Homes and Bogue Trondowski Architects developed the modern, green living residential space on display at GreenZone to demonstrate net zero energy and water consumption made possible, in part, by the myriad energy-efficient products available to consumers now. The 722-square-foot model home creates a real-life building application that remains both stylish and appealing to customers. LG's ENERGY STAR-certified Art Cool™ Premier offers a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) up to 28, helping the home reach its high efficiency.
The modular home also features a solar array making use of LG's technologically advanced Photovoltaic module, Mono X™, which boasts the highest power output among all LG modules in its class. While conventional mono products run at 240W, advanced units operate at 260W.
Due in part to the use of LG's solar panels, HVAC system and ENERGY STAR home appliances and electronics, the residential module is designed to achieve the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program "LEED for Homes" Platinum certification.
GreenZone Classroom Cooled by LG Inverter
The GreenZone modular classroom is a 768-square-foot prototype from Portland State University, Blazer Industries and Pacific Mobile Structures. The modular classroom was constructed as a part of Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber's Oregon Solutions program, which helps to organize teams of experts from non-profit, public and private industries to address problems that face the state. During this process, the Green Modular Classroom Taskforce developed the "Smart Academic Green Environment" (SAGE) Classroom, an innovative, energy-efficient, and affordable modular classroom.
LG's high-efficiency, single zone Inverter air conditioning system featured in the classroom installation combines the benefits of duct-free design with energy-efficient Inverter technology. Featuring an impressive Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of up to 20, the system is also ENERGY STAR-certified.
