Novotel Hong Kong Nathan Road Kowloon is pleased to announce that the hotel has been accredited with Indoor Air Quality Certificate (Good Class). Provided under the Hong Kong Indoor Air Quality Certification Scheme managed by the Environmental Protection Department and Indoor Quality Information Centre.
The certification recognizes the hotels achievement in controlling the quality of air in the hotel premises.
Under the Indoor Air Quality Certification Scheme, twelve parameters on air quality including the level of Carbon Dioxide and Respirable Suspended Particulates in the premises are measured. The public areas of the Reception on Ground Floor, First Floor Lobby and 4th Floor to 15th Floor, Restaurant and Bar have been accredited with a Good Class Certificate.
Regular inspections are conducted to maintain the air quality in the premises these include regular cleaning and sanitization of air ducts, fresh air intake filters and air handling units to ensure that the ventilation and air conditioning systems are working efficiently to provide quality air. Carbon Dioxide levels are also monitored to reach a good standard below 800ppm and environmental friendly paints are used to minimize pollution.
Mr Olivier Moies-Delval, General Manager said, Good indoor air is essential for the health of our guests and employees, and we are pleased to be one of the two hotels to receive this certification. ?We will continue to strive to improve environmental and sustainability in our activities this year, some of the initiatives include installation of air purifiers and germicidal UV lamps to remove dust and kill bacteria virus.
Novotel Hong Kong Nathan Road Kowloon has been actively engaged in various environmental initiatives over the past year. Some of the key achievements include electricity per guest has been reduced last year by over 3%; initiatives include changing light fittings, installing movement and light sensors. Flow Regulators have been installed on all showerheads and faucets in guest rooms to save water. Waste has been sent to landfill with a large reduction of 60% after implementing food waste recycling programme.
This year, the hotel will focus on savings in energy and water consumption and continue with its support in waste recycling.
Novotel Hong Kong Nathan Road Kowloon is EarthCheck certified in 2011, an international recognized environmental certification programme tailored to the tourism industry.
